The Private Life of Peg Lynch: A Podcast About "The Lady Who Invented Sitcom"
The writer. The actress. The woman. The funny woman. The funny daughter. The funny mother. The lover. The wife. The pioneer. The groundbreaker. The "one woman tornado of the air" may lose speed, becoming a gentle puff of wind but never underestimate the power of Peg Lynch.
THE PRIVATE LIFE OF PEG LYNCH is a 12-part podcast. It’s the story of a small-town girl of remarkable precocity who went on to write, star and own her very own sitcom on radio and TV. Peg Lynch. My mother.
It’s a story of two mediums, of marriage, of motherhood and how this brainy, funny lady became one of America’s favourite writer and comedian and how it all crashed to an end after 10,000 scripts. It's told through her daughter's voice (that would be me, Astrid King) with Peg herself chiming in here and there from archival interviews. Music by Denis King and the occasional remark from James Lileks.
